Royal Wedding Garden Party - Spring 2011

On Saturday, April 30, 2011 there was Gauge 1 "live steam" Royal Wedding Garden Party hosted by G1MRA members in South Carolina (Steve Baker and Jim Pitts) exclusively for commoners in the colonies who were unable to attending the wedding festivities in London.

This was a celebration of both the Royal Wedding and the arrival of Spring in the South.  Over a hundred invited guests gathered in the garden to boil water for tea and to run Gauge 1 Steam Trains

The railway livery of the day gave preference to UK locomotive and passenger carriages, yet being inclusive in spirit, US and other live steam locomotives were welcomed.   Our thanks to the live steamers from the southern states of Georgia, North and South Carolina who entertained and informed a most appreciate audience about the joys of steaming in the garden.  Cookies and crumpets, quiche and scones, hot tea and lemonade; all added to an atmosphere of convivial conversation and celebration.
