Reno  4-4-0 American Type

When we talk about American Railroad history, we have to mention the 4-4-0 "American" type locomotives.  They played an important role in opening of the North American Continent.  They are synonymous with the Wild West and bring to memory a great era of expansion from the Atlantic seaboard to the shores of the Pacific Oceans.

The Virginia and Truckee engines were built by Baldwin Locomotive works and served short lines in Nevada.  Often, American type locomotives are used in Western movies, and are known to railroad enthusiasts all over the world.
